Weekend To Usher In More Rain

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A big storm from the Great Plains and Midwest will bring a little rain to the mid-Atlantic starting this weekend.

However, said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist, "There is a chance the dry air to the north pushes so far to the south to potentially keep the rain at bay around much of upstate New York. Should that rain push southward through the Hudson Valley, it may greatly limit the amount of rain around the New York City area."

The latest models show the heaviest downpours missing the region.

"The rain for the weekend ultimately is being suppressed to our south," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.

Here's the 5-day forecast based on Rockland County:

• Thursday - Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. Northwest winds around 5 mph.
• Tonight - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Lows in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Friday - Sunny. Highs in the lower 60s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Friday Night - Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s. Northwest winds around 5 mph.
• Saturday - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers in the morning, then rain likely in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Saturday Night - Rain likely. Lows in the mid 40s. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Sunday - Partly sunny. Rain likely in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Monday - Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 50s.
• Monday Night - Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 40s.
