Wind Gusts Cause Power Outages Across The Hudson Valley

Ulster, Westchester and Rockland counties have been the hardest hit; there's a wind advisory until 4 p.m.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — One "Alberta clipper" brought the gusty winds and resultant power outages overnight; another is expected to bring a little snow overnight into Saturday.

All four power companies that serve the Hudson Valley reported outages as of 8 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties, saying northwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down.

"Winds will remain gusty with the worst of the winds between now and noon, after which we will begin to see a gradual reduction is maximum wind gusts, most of the winds will subside between 4-7PM.," said the folks on Hudson Valley Weather.
