The store’s Wilton, CT location abruptly closed in 2010. According to The Journal News, Wilton’s town tax receiver said he was able to collect the remaining $3,100 in taxes for the grocery store when he caught the manager at the location. In an October 2012 interview with Patch, Zeytinia market's General Manager Mucahit Arici said that it was business as usual at the Croton-on-Hudson grocery store, despite the tax evasion case.
Croton-on-Hudson’s Mayor Leo Wiegman told The Journal News that the shop’s owner told the village’s building inspector that they would be conducting three or four weeks worth of renovations, including new refrigeration and lighting. Reporters were unable to contact Zeytinia’s owners.
