Nassau 80-Year-Old Bilked Out Of $30K In Crash Scheme: Cops
Police say the woman was told her son was arrested following in a crash overseas and needed money.

EAST NORWICH, NY — A Queens Village man who was previously accused of scamming a 77-year-old woman out of thousands of dollars has been arrested again after police said he scammed an 80-year-old East Norwich woman out of $30,000 by fabricating a story that her adult son had been involved in a crash overseas and needed money.
Ahmaad Moore, 31, of 223rd Street, hatched the scheme on the evening of Dec. 18, police said Tuesday. After telling the woman her son was arrested, Moore drove a white vehicle to East Norwich to pick up an envelope full of money, police said.
The woman filed a police report when she realized she had been scammed.

Moore surrendered to police Tuesday morning in the presence of his attorney. He faces charges of 3rd-degree grand larceny and 1st-degree scheme to defraud.
He was expected to appear Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead. Prosecutors are not able to try to hold Moore on monetary bail conditions for either charge under the new bail reform legislation. They would have been able to seek cash bail before Jan. 1.

Investigators ask that anyone who feels they may be a victim of Moore's should call Nassau County police or dial 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
Moore was previously arrested in Floral Park after police said he scammed a 77-year-old woman out of thousands of dollars by telling her that her granddaughter had been involved in a crash and needed bail money.
In that scheme, Moore is accused of calling the woman and saying her granddaughter needed $9,800 for bail after a wreck, police said. They arranged to have the man at her home, where she forked over the cash.
Police arrested Moore after the woman received a second call seeking an additional $19,000 for supposed medical treatment for someone who was hurt.
