Updated: Gas Shut Off to Parts of Bayville
National Grid reports safety concerns, sets up base in Oyster Bay.

Gas service will be restored to affected homes in Bayville upon National Grid's discretion, when the flooding subsides and customers can re-enter their homes and businesses, National Grid Spokesperson Karen Young said Monday afternoon.

National Grid is reportedly shutting down the gas supply in parts of Bayville Monday due to safety concerns from Hurricane Sandy.
"Due to significant flooding local officials have issued a mandatory evacuation and we are in the process of securing gas service in the Bayville area on Madison Ave., two to three blocks east and west on the street, for safety and to protect the gas infrastructure," National Grid Spokesperson Karen Young said Monday afternoon.

Roughly 23 customers are affected. National Grid has not yet said when the shut off will occur or for how long.
The Oyster Bay Fire Department will host a temporary operations base for National Grid during the shut down process as flooded roads have prevented entrance to Bayville.
