Home Furnishings Store to Open at Mall

Home furnishings retailer West Elm will open a store Thursday at Walt Whitman Shops. It will be the chain's first store on Long Island.

 The 9,948 square foot store is near the new Pottery Barn's three stores, which will have their grand opening Thursday.

The chain will offer tote bags to the first 300 customers who spend $50 or more. 

Based in Brooklyn, the chain has 55 stores in the United States, Canada and Australia.
