The Jericho Cider Mill has unveiled a sign given to showcase its impact in the community.

JERICHO, NY – The Jericho Cider Mill unveiled a historical sign, commemorating its more than 200 years in the community, with roots dating back to the 1800s.
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilwoman Laura Maier joined father and son, as well as owners, Ted and Kerry Ketsoglou, at the cider mill for the sign unveiling on Oct. 20.
“Today, we come together to celebrate not only a business, but a true legacy and a piece of our
Town’s heart and soul — the Jericho Cider Mill,” Saladino said. “While some of the equipment may have been updated over the years, the recipes and commitment to using the freshest ingredients with no preservatives remain the same.”

The Jericho Cider Mill is one of the longest-running cider mills in the nation, and it started operations back in 1820. It has been owned by several different people, from farmers to fire department members, but its community impact remains the same, a release said.
The Jericho Cider Mill has a deep history: In the late 1800s, the establishment was sold to George Doughty, who made it famous for its cider and champagne cider. He ran the cider mill for nearly 50 years, turning ownership over to John Hicks, officials said.

The Prohibition temporarily shut down the original location of the cider mill, so Hicks opened it in a new location, and then it was sold to John Zulkofske, a farmer and founding member of the Jericho Fire Department.
Zulkofske is to thank for the cider mill’s current location on Route 106 in Jericho, and his family owned the mill for more than five decades, officials said.
The Jericho Cider Mill has been run by the Ketsoglou family for the past 10 years, with father and son both members of the Jericho Fire Department.
