Large Brush Fire Extinguished In Mill Neck: Officials

The Locust Valley Fire Department was called to a brush fire Monday night after a transformer blew near a home in Mill Neck.

LOCUST VALLEY, NY — Firefighters on Monday extinguished a brush fire that was burning behind a Mill Neck home on Monday night.

The Locust Valley Fire Department was first alerted to the blaze at 104 Lower Horseshoe Rd. around 7:23 p.m. It reportedly started after a transformer blew behind the residence.

Upon arrival, crews encountered two "50-by-30 areas of brush on fire," according to fire officials. Nearby Bayville Fire Department sent a tanker to the scene and helped put out the fire.
