OYSTER BAY, NY — Oyster Bay will be home to an annual polar bear plunge event to raise money for a Nassau County not-for-profit health agency dedicated to serving people with cerebral palsy, developmental and other disabilities.

Joseph Saladino, the town supervisor, announced Friday that the 16th annual Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser will be held March 8 from noon to 1 p.m. at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Beach and Marina in Oyster Bay. Saladino was named the Honorary Chairman of the event

"The Town of Oyster Bay is proud to serve as home this Polar Bear Plunge as it supports the Cerebral Palsy Association and their many outstanding programs and services," he said in a statement. "I invite everyone to come out of winter hibernation and join us in this fun and unique plunge into north shore waters. The water may be cold, but the cause is certain to warm your heart."
