Oyster Bay Principal Officially Resigns Less Than 3 Months On The Job

The announcement comes weeks after she would "be away from the building for some time​", the superintendent said.

OYSTER BAY, NY — An Oyster Bay principal who was announced "would be away" from the school has resigned.

Jessica Bader, principal of James H. Vernon School, resigned as of Tuesday, according to the agenda from the Oyster Bay-East Northwich District board meeting that same day.

The announcement comes about three weeks after Superintendent Francesco Ianni wrote that Bader would "be away from the building for some time." Ianni wrote the news in a letter addressed to district families.

"My main priority is to alleviate any concerns that you may have regarding the day-to-day operation of the James H. Vernon School and to reassure you that ALL students will continue to learn in the most educationally sound and safe environment," he wrote.

At Tuesday's board meeting, Ianni said the resignation had “had nothing to do with any issue with our students or staff," Newsday reported.

On July 17, Bader wrote a letter to school parents and guardians, announcing her transition from Director of Humanities to principal of the elementary school.

In the letter, she said at the time that she was "honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading such a vibrant and esteemed institution."
