GLEN COVE, NY — Team Every Veteran Appreciated (EVA) is hosting their sixth annual Veterans Day group run on Tuesday to honor the nation's heroes. They will stop at 16 Points of Honor and place 30 single roses, 7 wreaths, and 3 cones along their Veterans Day run.

The run is part of their annual 7-day event, where they visit more than 300 points of honor and place more than 350 flowers. Over the past 10 years, Team EVA has placed over 3,000 roses in remembrance.

Organizer Eva Casale said it is so important to honor and remember veterans: "not just on Veterans Day, but every day."

Team EVA has been hosting the event for years as a way to recognize veterans.

"On Veterans Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who stood for something greater than themselves," she said. "Their service echoes through generations, reminding us that freedom is never free. On Veterans Day, we salute all who served — with gratitude, respect, and a promise to carry their legacy forward."

The 26.2-mile run will start at 8 a.m. at West Harbor Beach Memorial Park, 10 West Harbor Beach Dr., Bayville. The 5K run will start at 3 p.m. at VFW Post 347, 15 Hill St., Glen Cove. They will merge for the last 5K and both finish together at the VFW Post 347 in Glen Cove around 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. People are requested to register online so staff members know if they should wait for anyone, but runners can join last minute or even during the route.

Team EVA started the 7 Marathons in 7 Days event in 2016, and when they could not hold the full event in April 2020, they started the one-day Veterans Day Marathon event.

"We encourage and remind all to say ‘Thank you for your service’ to our veterans," she said.
