Summer 2022 Lifeguard Positions Available In Town Of Oyster Bay

Certified lifeguards can now apply to work at beaches and swimming pools in the Town of Oyster Bay.

OYSTER BAY, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay is hiring beach and swimming pool lifeguards for the upcoming summer season.

Officials say they are now accepting applications from qualified, certified individuals interested in lifeguarding positions at Tappen Beach and Pool in Glenwood Landing, as well as beach facilities in Bayville, Oyster Bay, and Massapequa.

"Our lifeguards provide an invaluable service in protecting residents and have helped save countless lives in both pool and ocean waters," said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "The Town lifeguarding staff has a tremendous sense of dedication and understanding of integrity, accountability, and the importance of teamwork."

Town lifeguards are hired for the summer season, which starts on Memorial Day and ends on Labor Day. Applicants must be at least 16 years old, have an up-to-date lifeguard certification, and possess a current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Candidates can apply in person at the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department's human resources office, which is located in Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Rd., Massapequa).

"Having a summer lifeguard job at one of our beautiful summer facilities helps build confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills," said Councilmember Vicki Walsh. "In addition to the great sense of pride one has in being a lifeguard, there is also the great opportunity to spend time helping others at one of our beautiful summer facilities."
