Abominable Snow Rat Spotted in Brooklyn Heights

The elements were no match for his filthy little paws.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — At the height of Sunday’s blizzard action, while the winds of Winter Storm Jonas still howled through New York City and drifts of snow still puffed and glistened ahead of their inevitable slide into brown slush, a lone rat from Brooklyn Heights, seemingly immune to the temps, burrowed his way through a massive snow mound and into the safety of a nearby hubcap.

Instagram user @ale_rivera, not so faint-of-heart herself, was venturing through Brooklyn Heights during the storm and happened to catch the little freak on camera. (See above.)

Naturally, she named him Snow Rat.

And, naturally, the sleepless Internet trollers at Southern California viral-video company Jukin Media were quick to snatch up the rights to the video, as they’ve done with footage of many other beloved NYC rodents and despicable humans.

It’s no surprise. Snow Rat is a local hero, nothing less. Here’s to hoping he didn’t end up Frozen Rat, like another of his kin across the borough.
