Almost the New Year, A New Sexual Assault

A woman was sexually assaulted on Dec. 31, cops said.

The day before the New Year, a Hispanic male approached a white woman from behind on Fourth Avenue, touched her buttocks and ran, according to police. 

That day, Dec. 31 at around 1:30 a.m., the 23-year-old woman, who was with a male companion, was walking near 19th Street when the 25-year-old suspect, weighing 150 to 175 pounds and wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, came up from behind the couple and allegedly sexually assaulted her, an NYPD spokesman said.

The suspect is said to speak English with an accent.

“Right now, it appears to be an isolated incident,” a police source told The Paper.
