PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — It's been 10 years since the Nets became Brooklyn's hometown basketball team, and to celebrate, the ballers have teamed up with Ample Hills to bring two new flavors for ball fans and ice cream fanatics alike.

Called the "Birthday Swishes," both flavors honor the decade of court-side action brought to the borough by the Nets, with each depicting the uniforms worn by the team

Home Court Advantage, a dark chocolate cake ice cream with swirls of frosting and black, white and silver sprinkles, honors the iconic home court uniform worn by Nets players.

The other flavor, Away Game, is a white birthday cake ice cream with chocolate swirls, house-made chocolate cake batter bite and black, white and silver sprinkles, representing the road uniform.

Away Game is available as scoops or pints at all Ample Hills shops in New York and New Jersey, while Home Court Advantage is, as the name implies, only available at the Nets home inside Barclay Stadium.

"The Nets are our home team and have been woven into the fabric of Brooklyn for a decade” said Michael Zapata, CEO of Ample Hills. “We couldn’t imagine a more incredible partnership with a brand that has deep roots in the community, like us. We’re so excited to offer two new flavors that really celebrate the team’s history at Barclays Center, a neighbor to so many of our scoop shops.”

A portion of proceeds from all Birthday Swishes sales will go toward the Brooklyn Nets & New York Liberty Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals of all ages by focusing on health, wellness, and creating a more equitable society.

Ample Hills was sold in 2020 to Schmitt Industries for $1 million after founders Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna filed for bankruptcy. Their fast rise and the troubles that came with it were well-documented in a 2021 story on the website, Medium.

Since then, Smith and Cuscuna have re-entered the ice cream market, opening The Social in Prospect Heights in 2021 to rave reviews, a decade after Ample Hills first opened its doors.
