Another Park Slope Rapist Strikes in Wee Hours: Police

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — In the second such attempt within the past five weeks, some sicko in Park Slope tried to rape a young woman in the wee hours Sunday, according to the NYPD.

The 21-year-old victim had just exited the subway around 4:30 a.m., and was walking along 2nd Street between 7th and 8th avenues, when a strange man approached her and attempted to rape her, she later told police.

"The suspect approached the 21 year-old female victim from behind and touched her genitals over her underwear," the NYPD said in a statement issued Tuesday. "The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, pulled off her underwear and attempted to rape her. The victim fought off the suspect and yelled for help."

The attempted rapist then hopped into a dark-colored, four-door Acura and fled westbound on 2nd Street, police said.

A different man is suspected of trying to rape another young woman as she jogged along the western edge of Prospect Park, near Park Slope, around 5 a.m. on April 20.

Detectives with the 78th Precinct, which includes Park Slope and Prospect Park, released the above sketch of their latest suspect Tuesday. He's described as a male of Hispanic or Indian origin, between 20 and 25 years old, standing 5-feet-8-inches tall to 6 feet tall and weighing around 170 or 180 pounds. The man was last seen wearing light-colored shorts and a light-colored shirt, police said.
