Banana Pudding Beer Is Here
It's like Manhattan's beloved banana pudding bakeshop and a Brooklyn craft brewery walked into a bar.

BROOKLYN, NY — Joining the ranks of cookie wine and mac and cheese ice cream comes another food collaboration you didn't know you needed, this time dreamed up by a pair of New York City-based culinary brands: banana pudding beer, crafted by Magnolia Bakery and Sixpoint Brewery.
The Manhattan-based bakery, beloved for its banana pudding, and the pioneering craft brewery, which got its start in Red Hook, announced the launch of "Extrava-Nana," an 8.0% double hefeweizen beer with notes of banana and vanilla.
As of July 15, the beer will hit the shelves at Sixpoint's soon-to-open Downtown Brooklyn taproom as well as regional stores where Sixpoint cans are sold.

A couple days later, on July 17, the brands will celebrate "Extrava-Nana" at a launch party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Sunset Park's Industry City. Four packs of the beer, plus Magnolia Bakery treats (including the new "Banana Pudding Cookie") will be available for sale.
The banana pudding beer, while an unexpected flavor, isn't unusual for either Magnolia Bakery or Sixpoint Brewery — brands that are no strangers to collaborations.

In May, the brewery teamed up with Brooklyn-based Mike’s Hot Honey to launch a slightly spicy beer apparently perfect for eating with a slice of pizza.
In the past several weeks alone, Magnolia Bakery collaborated on a breakfast dish with Upper West Side eatery Jacob's Pickles and teamed up with Casely to launch a sweet treat-themed phone case.
The bakeshop has previously dipped its toes into the worlds of clothing and coffee, too.
As far as dessert-themed beers go though, banana pudding-flavored seems to be a first.
