PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A popular Park Slope pasta restaurant is expanding down the block.

Pasta Louise, a fresh pasta operation that moved from owner Alison Arevalo's stoop to a corner storefront on Eight Avenue and Eighth Street in July 2020, is opening its second outpost this week.

The new pasta eatery, located at 114 Eighth Avenue on the corner of 12th Street, was home to Johnny Mack's for over two decades before the restaurant officially closed at the end of last year following months of speculation.

The 12th Street corner restaurant will become the primary, full-service location of Pasta Louise, while the Eight Street location, at 803 Eighth Avenue, turns into Pasta Louise Cafe.

Instead of running two restaurants, the cafe will include a modified menu of coffee and sweet treats, as well as retail items, like pasta kits. The full-service restaurant will still serve its hit menu of pasta — one or two shapes per day with different (and new) sauces — plus salads, meats and more.

As of May 13th, Pasta Louise on 12th Street will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, save from Monday.

The new eatery — which is roughly three times the size of its first outpost and has room for about 60 indoor seats, a 10-seat bar and outdoor space — is only taking walk-ins to start, but will open reservations soon, according to the website.

Pasta Louise Cafe — which closed for several days during the opening — will reopen as usual on Friday, May 13. Its hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
