Celebrate the Season and the Park Slope Women's Shelter on the Same Joyful Night
The Park Slope Women's Shelter will host its 20th annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 8.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID isn't the only neighborhood organization celebrating the season with a tree lighting (as pretty as its tree is).
On Thursday, Dec. 8, you can join CAMBA's Park Slope Women's Shelter for its 20th annual tree lighting.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the shelter, located at 1402 8th Ave. According to organizers, there will be cookies, cocoa, and music to accompany the lights, as well as tributes to the shelter's volunteers.

As explained by CAMBA, the Park Slope Women's Shelter has been open since 1996, and offers a temporary home, food, medical and psychiatric services for up to 100 women at a time, with the goal of helping them move toward permanent housing.
You can learn more about the shelter on its website. And if you're moved to help spread some joy to the women and children CAMBA works with around the city, you can drop off toys and gifts for CAMBA's annual holiday gift drive at its Kensington location at 385 McDonald Ave. (CAMBA's wish list is online here.)
