PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Ten years ago, Andres Rodas and Andres Whang set out to open an Italian restaurant in Park Slope with a twist.

Having both grown up eating homemade bolognese in Argentina, Rodas and Whang imagined a piccola cucina (little kitchen in Italian) where they could serve up so-called "new Italian" fare — traditional dishes made with organic and locally-sourced ingredients.

That vision came to life in 2012 at Piccoli Trattoria, a cozy neighborhood restaurant on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 14 Street that's now celebrating its 10th anniversary with an aptly eclectic prix fixe menu.

The menu, which will be offered Monday through Thursday in April (starting April 4), includes a choice of mussels or kale salad (topped with Murray's cheese) to start, followed by one of three pasta mains (made with New York organic grains, as usual): vegetable ravioli, lamb rigatoni, or duck fazzoletti (a pasta shape traditional in northern Italy).

A glass of prosecco comes with the meal, which costs $42 per-person.

Prix fixe diners can also purchase a bottle of Ciu Ciu Oppidum Rosso (a red wine from Marche, Italy) for $40 instead of its usual $75 price-tag.

Piccoli Trattoria isn't Rodas and Whang's only joint venture: the co-owners also opened Belli Osteria in Fort Greene, Piccoli Togo in Windsor Terrace, and (most recently) Crosta Pizzeria, located nearby in Park Slope.
