CityMD Closing 3 Brooklyn Clinics Amid Staff Shortages

BROOKLYN, NY — CityMD is temporarily closing three of its Brooklyn urgent-care clinics amid staffing shortages as the omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to spread, the company announced Tuesday.

The urgent care's Cobble Hill, Prospect Park South and Bensonhurst locations all closed starting Wednesday along with 11 other CityMD locations across the five boroughs.

The chain has become heavily used for its free COVID-19 tests, with demand growing in recent weeks as cases rise across the city. Closing these locations was a necessary step to "preserve our ability to staff our sites," CityMD said, saying the step would help stave off more closures as the omicron surge continues.

The company advised residents near the Cobble Hill site, found on Court Street, to use the Brooklyn Heights location on Montague Street and those who would use the Prospect Park South clinic to head to the Crown Heights City MD on Utica Avenue.

Patients from the closed Bensonhurst location, found on 18th Avenue, should go to the neighborhood's second CityMD on 86th Street, the company said.
