Commuter Assaulted At Brooklyn Subway Station: NYPD

Police are looking for the suspect.

BROOKLYN, NY — Detectives are looking for a perpetrator who assaulted a man on a subway platform in Brooklyn and tried to steal a phone, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, on the southbound platform at the Bergen Street subway station, a perpetrator approached a 37-year-old man, simulated a weapon, and forcibly removed his cell phone on Nov. 18 at 11:33 a.m.

Then, when the victim attempted to grab his phone back, the perpetrator punched and kicked the man, and struck him several times in the face with the cell phone, police said.

The man was successful in getting his phone back, and sustained injuries but was not hospitalized, officials said.

According to police, the perpetrator fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Police have not made any arrests yet.

Police said the suspect is a man with a slim build and dark complexion, last seen wearing a black Nike mask, a white “Beetlejuice” hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.
