Dead Man Pulled From Gowanus Canal: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY — Police found an unconscious, unresponsive man floating in the Gowanus Canal on Thursday, New York City Police Department officials said.

The man, 69, was found in the water at 2:03 p.m. near the corner of Nevins Street and Butler Street, police said.

The 69-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and an investigation into his death is underway, officials said.

The name of the victim is being kept private by police until his family can be notified, police said.
