Driver Accused of Deadly Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Arrested, Police Say
The driver was arrested in Brooklyn on Thursday.

BROOKLYN, NY — A driver who is accused of killing a 74-year-old pedestrian in Bay Ridge this September was arrested in Brooklyn on Thursday.
Brian Macoto-Morales, 23, was arrested in the 84th precinct, which includes Downtown Brooklyn and and Brooklyn Heights, just before 9 a.m.
Macoto-Morales was charged with accusations of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and three counts of failing to obey a traffic device in the second degree.

The pedestrian, Segundo Reina-Gaon, was run over while crossing the street at the corner of Ridge Boulevard and Bay Ridge Avenue on Sept. 11, around 9 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, Emergency responders rushed the pedestrian, named Segundo Reina-Gaon, to NYU Langone Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

There have been 56 traffic fatalities in Brooklyn this year and 58 last year at this time, according to New York City Police Department data.
