Farm-To-Table, Multicultural Restaurant Opens In Park Slope
Traditions of dinnertime storytelling inspire the multicultural menu at Lore, a new restaurant on the corner of 15th Street and 7th Avenue.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A restaurant serving multicultural dishes made with seasonal ingredients opened in Park Slope this week.
Lore, run by chefs and partners Jay Kumar and John Kim, opened to the public on Wednesday night at the corner of 7th Avenue and 15th Street — a corner storefront that's housed a succession of beloved American restaurants, including Thistle Hill Tavern and Camperdown Elm.
The new eatery, though, is proving to be a quick neighborhood favorite, too: Lore is already fully booked during its opening weekend and on Valentine's Day (as one neighbor pointed out on Facebook, the dimly-lit, exposed-brick eatery has a romantic atmosphere).

As its name suggests, Lore pays homage to the "storytellers and community leaders" who keep the diverse traditions of Brooklyn (and elsewhere) alive around the dinner table, the restaurant's website says.
In the spirit of this "confluence of cultures," the eatery is serving a multicultural menu featuring ingredients from local farms.

The dinner menu currently includes some South Asian-inspired starters, like a "fermented dosa," new American style mains, like a wild mushroom ragout with buckwheat spatzle, and a Middle Eastern treat (baklava) for dessert.
The restaurant currently opens at 5 p.m. for dinner every night of the week — with reservations until 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and until 9 p.m. on Sunday — but plans to expand into brunch service "soon," according to the website.
