Garly Eats is Your One-Stop Park Slope Shop for Donuts, Ice Cream and Burgers

The laid-back restaurant opened on 7th Avenue this November.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — David Cheung is a man who wears many hats. He's a registered nurse, but said his love of cooking was stoked by his sister. Venturing into the food business, he first focused on specialty ice cream, eventually founding Roll'n Chill.

This November, he opened up his first restaurant, Gnarly Eats at 447 7th Ave. in Park Slope, a "dual joint" that will sling both ice cream in the summers and a menu of American classics (plus, Dough Donuts are delivered to the shop every day.)

Cheung said he noticed a lack of accessible places to get a quick burger in the neighborhood, so he's designed Gnarly to be a restaurant that serves the food he liked growing up, while being "a place where you would eat, hang out, then be on your way."

The current menu (included below) includes a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger, Beef Brisket Sandwich, and Mighty Wings.

Cheung said he also wants to eventually add pop-up menu items, including deep-friend Oreo hush puppies, deep-fried Twinky hush puppies, and lobster mac-and-cheese on a roll.

And in the summer, he said he plans to open up the store to the outside and serve Roll'n Chill ice cream on the street.

Cheung said he's still looking to hire three of four more cooks. If you're interested, you can stop by the business. Gnarly Eats is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Just look for the blue Tardis door from Dr. Who (Cheung is a fan).
