Why Go: The Grammy-nominated future-funk rock emcee, Kokayi, is a producer and educator. He has served as a hip-hop ambassador with the State Department’s Rhythm Roads project and collaborated with saxophonist Steve Coleman.

Where/When: Grand Army Plaza, Saturday at 8 a.m.

Why Go: Grab some fresh fruits, meats, seafood, veggies and wine at this year-round, weekly farmer's market. You can also drop off your textiles at GrowNYC's Textile Recycling and drop off your compost at GrowNYC Compost Collection.

Why Go: Blue Man Group’s Peter Musante will bring your 7 to 10 year old on a full-bodied exploration of character-driven physicality and play. Musante will teach students how to unleash their creativity through a unique blend of physical comedy, improvisation and kinesthetic learning. Reservations are required - RSVP@dancewave.org.

Where/When: Monte's, 451 Carroll St, Sunday at 6 a.m.

Why Go: Monte’s, the famous Italian restaurant, is an old haunt of the Rat Back—limousines would block Carroll between Third Ave and Nevins St as the coolest of cool came to grab a bite—and now it has live jazz every Sunday.
