If you needed another reason to give back to the community, there is also a promise of free daffodils.

Nearly a year ago, outgoing mayor and current Park Slope resident Bill de Blasio announced an $11 million renovation to the historic Old Stone House, as part of the Gowanus rezoning project.

Planned upgrades included a new elevator, staircase and the addition of public restrooms in the 1930's reconstruction of a 1699 dutch farmhouse.

The Old Stone House played a critical role during the Battle of Brooklyn, an early and one of the longest battles of the American Revolutionary War.

The Parks Department did not immediately reply with an update regarding the project.
