Major Park Slope Subway Station Swept Up In MTA Spring Cleaning
Atlantic-Barclays is among 13 stations slated for "Re-NEW-vation" — aka deep cleanings, repairs and more — this spring, officials said.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — The dreariness of Atlantic-Barclays Center subway station is about to get scrubbed away, or at least painted over.
A spring cleaning program dubbed "Re-NEW-vation" will sweep through the major Park Slope subway station in the coming weeks, MTA officials announced this week.
City transit crews will repair concrete, replace tiles, stop leaks, grout, repaint and deep clean them "from the staircase to the track," officials said in a release.

This top-to-bottom scrub-a-dub has already been completed at 21 stations this year, and Atlantic-Barclays is among 13 more where work is slated to begin starting Saturday.
“These next thirteen stations are up for some Spring refresh," said Demetrius Crichlow, NYC Transit's senior vice president of subways, in a statement.

Work will cover the B and Q line areas in Atlantic-Barclays, officials said.
The entire Atlantic-Barclays transit complex isn't exactly spotless, but straphangers who frequent the station can rest assured it isn't among the worst in the subway system.
The spring cleaning will go in sequence from the Cortelyou Road Q station, move to the Broadway G and then the Grand Street B and D before work starts in Atlantic-Barclays, officials said.
