Man Attacked During Attempted Cellphone Robbery, Police Say

The 18-year-old man was at the Seventh Avenue F train stop when he was attacked by a suspect trying to steel his phone, police said.

PARK SLOPE, NY — A man was attacked by a thief who tried to steal his cellphone at a subway station before good Samaritan stepped in and stopped it, police said.

The 18-year-old victim was standing in the mezzanine of the Seventh Avenue F train station on Saturday when the suspect started to assault him at about 6:30 p.m., the NYPD said.

The suspect tried to swipe the victim's cellphone, but a witness stepped in and the suspect fled in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital with an eye injury, police said.

Police described the suspect as 5-foot 10-inch man between 15 to 18-years-old and 150 to 160 pounds with a flat-top haircut. He was last seen wearing green pants, brown boots, a blue coat and has a black backpack.
