PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A man faces a manslaughter charge after police said he fatally stabbed an 18-year-old straphanger as a train rolled into a Park Slope subway station last week.

Mark Smith, 25, was arrested in connection to the death of Isaiah Collazo, 18, police said Tuesday.

The pair had a dispute on board a D train headed north late April 6, authorities said.

One of Collazo's friend had pulled the emergency brake on the train, a "stupid kid prank" in the words of NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig, who was quoted in a New York Post report.

Before the train rolled into the Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street about 11:30 p.m., Smith stabbed Collazo in the abdomen, police said.

Medics rushed Collazo to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where doctors pronounced him deceased, authorities said.

The stabber ran from the station, NYPD officials said. Five days later, police announced they had arrested Smith in connection to the stabbing.

Smith faces charges of manslaughter, assault and two count of criminal possession of a weapon.

The violent altercation isn't the only recent fatal stabbing to unfold near the border between Park Slope and Boerum Hill.

Police this week arrested Joevani Vale, 26, and accused him of carrying out a Saturday slashing spree along Nevins Street that included the murder of an elderly man.
