Man Found Dead In Prospect Park

Authorities found the man on Sunday afternoon.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — Authorities on Sunday found a man dead in Prospect Park on a sunny afternoon when the park was filled with families, the NYPD told Patch.

The NYPD responded around 2:20 p.m. for a call of a dead body, police said. They found a man in his 60s dead inside of a tent in a wooded area in the center of the park, police said.

Detectives interviewed some of the "regulars" in the area, a police source said, and they told authorities that the man was known to them.

There were no signs of a struggle or injury, the source said, and no one was arrested. Police have not identified the man.

Patch has reached out to the Prospect Park Alliance — the nonprofit organization that oversees the park, for more information — and we'll let you know if we hear back.
