UPDATE, Wednesday, June 15: Tiny is back at home and Park Slope can sleep again. Ezra Goldstein, co-owner of the Community Bookstore, told DNAinfo that news of Tiny's disappearance "went so viral that a woman we know on First Street saw a notice on Park Slope Parents, spotted an unfamiliar cat in her backyard, and gave us a call." He said it took several volunteers 45 minutes to corral the cat Tuesday night — worth it, obviously.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe."

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Tiny the Usurper, arguably Brooklyn's most widely celebrated bookstore cat, went missing from the aisles of the Community Bookstore on 7th Avenue late Monday night, according to a store employee.

By 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, he still hadn't been spotted in the area.
"We're just trying to look around the neighborhood," the store employee said. "We're just hoping he comes back."
Tiny normally sleeps inside the store. We're told that in the seven years he's lived on premise — his whole life, essentially — he's gone missing overnight before, but in those cases, he would always be waiting at the front door first thing the following morning.
"Are you clowning?"

"Park Slope!" bookstore staffers wrote on Instagram Tuesday. "Have you seen @tinytheusurper on the neighborhood prowl today? We fear our beloved beast lost!"
Yes, that's right: Tiny has his own Instagram account, where he can be seen squeezing his fat, furry bod between every stack, crevice and cubby of his resident bookstore. He also runs the bookstore's official staff-picks Tumblr, tweets from a fierce Twitter account and has been known to help out with accounting.
For these reasons and so many more, the cat and book lovers of Park Slope — some of them nearly as notable as Tiny on the Brooklyn literary scene — were on high alert Tuesday to track down their community mascot.
