Find Rare Books, Explore Prospect Park History at the Brooklyn Holiday Book Fair
Welcome Brooklyn's annual holiday book fair back to the Old Stone House in Prospect Park.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — This year, the Old Stone House in Prospect Park will once again offer the chance to stock up on a rare selection of books in time for the holidays — but the 2016 festivities also include an off-site excursion.
The Brooklyn Holiday Book Fair, run by Columbia Waterfront's Free Bird Books, will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 at 335 3rd St. It will feature selections from a variety of publishers, including Honey & Wax Booksellers, Unnameable Books, Terrace Books, Free Bird Books itself and others.
Here's what's new: This year's event will feature a free neighborhood walking tour led by Jonathan Tarleton and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, both of whom worked on the new book "Nonstop Metropolis: A New York City Atlas." According to its publisher, the work "conveys innumerable unbound experiences of New York City through twenty-six imaginative maps and informative essays."

The tour will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Stone House and return there at about 1:30, at which point Jelly-Schapiro and Tarleton will sign copies of the book.
According to Free Bird, the excursion will focus on "the layered legacies of Robert Moses and Frederick Law Olmsted in the borough, especially where Prospect Park and the Prospect Expressway sit in imposing proximity."
