New Kid's Gym Coming To Park Slope

My Gym is scheduled to open on Fifth Avenue in May.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Park Slope parents looking for somewhere their kids can burn off some of that seemingly infinite energy will have another place to do so in two months.

My Gym, an international chain of children's fitness centers, is opening up a location on Fifth Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth streets. Owner Evan Wacht told Patch he's shooting for a May opening, and an exact date is not yet set in stone.

"We found that the foot traffic and demographics is all family-based, so it would be perfect," Wacht said about coming to Park Slope.

The gym will have classes for kids ages six weeks through 10 years. While gymnastics-based, the facility offers dancing, singing, puppet shows and more.

Birthday parties can last up to two hours and run up to $900.

Wacht says all of the equipment in the gym will be "state of the art, everything’s going to be brand new." That includes a new sound system, a balance beam, a zip line and a "swing support system" where each rung can support 250 pounds.

The gym will have two floors, each 1800 square feet, Wacht said, with the top floor serving as the gym and the bottom floor for birthday parties.

Anyone who registers to become a member before the opening will get half off their first month of classes and have the $75 membership fee waived. To learn more, click here to visit My Gym's website and find them on Facebook here.
