New Rendering of Nitehawk Prospect Park Shows Second Floor Atrium and Bar
The theater's going away "Pour One Out for the Pavilion" party is on Nov. 1.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A new rendering of the future Nitehawk Prospect Park shows the theater's restored second floor atrium and one of its two planned bars.
The Pavilion Theater, both a neighborhood staple and a continual source of grievance for visitors lamenting its decaying condition, was purchased from Hidrock Properties this year for $28 million.
Nitehawk Cinema owner Matthew Viragh entered into a lease agreement with the new ownership team, and is embarking on a $10 million restoration project to be completed in the fall of 2017.

According to Nitehawk spokeswoman Alexa Harrison, the work will include "upgrading the building systems and modernizing the space including adding an elevator, cosmetically refurbishing the public areas, bathrooms, [and] adding new theater seats."
Nitehawk Prospect Park will also have seven screens, 650 seats, two kitchens, and two bar areas, Harrison said.

The Pavillion has already shut down, and a moving company was seen on Wednesday emptying it out. However, you can take one last trip down nostalgia lane on Nov. 1, when Nitehawk will open the theater up from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for its free “Pour One Out for the Pavilion” party.
There will be a cash bar, live music from the Street Beat Brass Band, and free popcorn — plus, guests will get a final chance to "explore the space" and "peek behind the curtains." You can register for the event online.
