NYC Subway Delays: R Train Causes Third Hellish Commute In Week
Trains were packed and straphangers were left stranded on stations after track debris caused delays to the R train on Thursday morning.

BROOKLYN, NY — The subways were a mess for the third day this week as the R train had delays, packed trains and straphangers stranded on stations because of track debris, according to the MTA and riders.
The southbound R train was running express between Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center to 59th Street in Brooklyn starting around 8:27 a.m. because of debris found on the tracks at the Prospect Avenue stop, the MTA said.
The debris also caused delays to the D and N trains during the morning rush hour, the agency said.

This is how the R train pulled up to Prospect Ave @NYGovCuomo @NYCTSubway. Would be cool if I could get on to go to work. pic.twitter.com/Fs3ahVUh41

R platform at Union St during Thursday morning commute. We already had one packed train come by that almost no one could get on. Unacceptable, @MTA @NYGovCuomo pic.twitter.com/J3K2bGj7cQ

God @mta I love when the R train doesn’t come for 25 mins during rush hour. #whereismytrain #mtasucks #nycproblems

Aside from problems with the R train, several other lines were also slowed on Monday morning. The 7 train was delayed in both directions because of signal problems at the 34th Street-Hudson Yards stop and so was the A train because of signal problems at South Channel Bridge, according to the MTA.
This is the third day the subways were a mess as residents tried to get to work. A myriad of problems on Monday caused 15 lines to be delayed and straphangers reported waiting at long as 40 minutes to catch a train.
Signal problems stalled the A and C trains Wednesday and ones heading into Manhattan from Brooklyn were slowed to a crawl, with some reporting it took 45 minutes to travel two stops.
