NYPD Helicopter Circling Park Slope Was Searching For Missing 3-Year-Old Girl

The child was eventually found, police said.

PARK SLOPE, NY — An NYPD helicopter that was seen and heard flying over Park Slope and Windsor Terrace on Wednesday evening was searching for a 3-year-old girl who briefly went missing. (To get notified instantly of goings-on in Park Slope, click here to subscribe to Patch's breaking news alerts.)

A Park Slope parents group on Facebook posted at 7:20 p.m. that the girl was missing, shortly after the helicopter was first heard in the neighborhood. By 7:30 p.m., the group said the girl had been found.

An NYPD spokesman told Patch that the girl was found and that he was "almost 100 percent sure" that the helicopter was related to her search.

The girl went missing from her home on 5th Street in Park Slope, but police declined to give any more specifics out of privacy for her family.

Flight trackers showed the chopper making loops around the southeast corner of Park Slope, in the area of Bartel Pritchard Square. Patch saw the helicopter at one point hovering for a few moments, with its searchlight on.
