Daniel Goldman in August won a closely contested primary race for the open congressional seat in the 10th District, vacated when U.S. Rep Jerry Nadler successfully ran against longtime colleague Caroyln Maloney in the 12th District.
In the general election, the Associated Press called the race for Goldman at just before 9:15 p.m.
A crowded primary field included Park Slope resident Bill de Blasio — who dropped out early — Congressman Mondaire Jones — whose upstate district was also redrawn — and longtime progressives Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou and City Council Member Carlina Rivera. Niou, Jones and Rivera won nearly 60 percent collectively. Goldman beat his nearest competitor, Niou, by under 1500 votes.
Kevin Parker faces a general election challenge in state Senate District 21 from progressive David Alexis, who is running on the Working Families line. Parker beat Alexis in August's primary by about eight points. Parker has held the seat for nearly 20 years and ran unsuccessfully for New York City Comptroller in 2021. District 21 was redrawn to largely exclude Park Slope earlier this year.
Robert Carroll had his hands full in State Assembly District 44, with two challengers looking to end his time in Albany. Brenda Horton, a Republican and Arkadiusz T. Tomaszewski, of the Medical Freedom Party. Carroll has represented Park Slope since 2017 and has been a leading voice in furthering congestion pricing and safe streets. District 44 was redrawn to include greater parts of Park Slope as well as a majority of Prospect Heights. Carroll won by more than 35,000 votes, with over 80% of the vote according to preliminary results as of Tuesday night.
Jo Anne Simon has represented the 52nd Assembly district since 2015. Simon came in second place during the 2020 race for Brooklyn Borough President, losing to Antonio Reynoso. Assembly District 52 lost some of its Park Slope territory in this year's redistricting.
