After a decade of helping Brooklyn see better, rising rents are closing the beloved glasses shop.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A beloved local eyewear shop and optician is set to close their doors at the end of the month, according to an announcement.
After a decade of helping Park Slope see better, Park Optics will sell its last pair of frames and lenses on Halloween, the announcement says.
"Our lease for this property is coming to an end, and we have decided that our last day of business will be October 31, 2023," reads an email sent to customers on Tuesday.

"So sad about this," said one person on Facebook. "They're wonderful.
"Unparalleled customer service," another person wrote. "They have always been kind, considerate, generous people, always willing to help," said another.
Someone even shared an incredible tale of a time when an employee noticed they weren't feeling well and got the customer an iced coffee while on a bagel run.
The letter says that customers should come by one last time and enjoy special savings on their eyeglasses "as a thank you," the optics shop wrote.
"The community has been the heart and soul of our practice, and we will always cherish the memories and connections we have made here," said Park Optics.
