One person was treated at the scene of the 9th Street house fire for minor injuries, according to the FDNY.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A small fire broke out in a landmarked, three-story brownstone (or, technically, a limestone) at 554 9th Street, just half a block west of Prospect Park, around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

It took around 60 firefighters to bring the blaze under control by 5 p.m., a spokeswoman for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) told Patch.

The limestone at 554 9th Street, pictured below, falls within the Park Slope Historic District, meaning it's protected by the city from undergoing renovations that would change its appearance.

City records show that the building is more than a century old, and that it was recently converted into a two-unit townhouse.
