Park Slope Library To Temporarily Close For Repairs Next Month
The Brooklyn Public Library branch will close from Jan. 6 to 22 for repairs to the building's HVAC system.

PARK SLOPE, NY — The Brooklyn Public Library's Park Slope branch will close throughout most of January while repairs are done to the building's heating and air conditioning system, officials said.
The branch, at 431 6th Ave. near 9th Street, will be shuttered from Jan. 6 to 22 while crews make repairs to the more than 100-year-old building, said Fritzi Bodenheimer, spokeswoman for the Brooklyn Public Library.
"Park Slope Library is closing to do some general repairs and spruce-up work," Bodenheimer said in a statement. "There are many branches nearby to serve patrons including Central, Pacific and Carroll Gardens."

Crews will work on fixing up the building's floors and lighting during the shut down as well as the repairs to the HVAC system. The work requires the heating to be turned off, causing the library to shut the branch during it, Bodenheimer said.
The library informed members of the shut down by email late Wednesday afternoon, but failed to give a reason for the closure. The branch will close at the end of the business day on Jan. 5, according to the email.

From Dec. 12, all holds to be picked up at the Park Slope location will be switched to the Carroll Gardens location at 396 Clinton St., the email stated. Holds placed after the shut down can be picked up at the Carroll Gardens location and patrons have until Jan. 12 to pick them up.
