Park Slope Ramen Restos Among Best In NYC, Eater Says

Eater named seven ramen restaurants in Bushwick, Sunset Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope the best in the city.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Rah-rah for ramen, specifically the Park Slope ramen restaurants named this month among the best in the city.

Eater NY has published its list of "Where to Find the City's Best Ramen" and among a select list of Brooklyn eateries are Park Slope's own Ramen Danbo and Mokbar.

Ramen Danbo, at 52 Seventh Ave. between Lincoln and St. John's places, earned a special shout-out for its vegan negi-goma ramen.

"Of particular note is a vegan bowl made with a rich broth laced with sesame oil, in which sesame seeds and scallions float in profusion," Eater writes. "Deep-fried and sliced tofu add to this unique bowl."

Eater also appreciated the specificity of ordering options Ramen Danbo provides diners: "Ramen noodles can be ordered at several levels of firmness, and broths at several levels of density."

The Mokbar outpost at 212 Flatbush Ave., near Bergen Street, earned accolades for the Korean cuisine that Eater said resulted in "heartier, more jam-packed bowls."

"A perfect example is army budae, said to have descended from surplus foods from U.S. soldiers," Eater wrote. "To a kimchi-laden broth it adds multiple forms of meat, akin to what you might find on a meat-lover’s pizza: Spam, pork belly, bacon, and little sausages, finished off with grated cheddar cheese."

Four other Brooklyn ramen spots made the list: Ramen Setagaya Japan Village in Sunset Park, Kogane in Brooklyn Heights, Wanpaku in Greenpoint and Ichiran in Bushwick.
