Park Slopers: Here's a Festive Opportunity to Get More Involved in Your Community

The Park Slope Civic Council will host its free annual holiday party and neighborhood schmooze fest on Dec. 1.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — If you're a Park Sloper who'se been looking for a chance to connect more deeply with your community, the Park Slope Civic Council has a free potluck it wants you to attend — and don't worry, the food's already taken care of.

The Civic Council, a wide-ranging community activist organization focused on quality of life issues in the neighborhood, will host its annual holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The event will start at 7 p.m. at the iconic Old Stone House, located at 336 3rd St.

At the gathering, you'll have a chance to meet neighbors and the Council's board members, learn more about what the Council does and discover how you can get involved in its work. (Trustees will be providing the food.)

One other related note: Dec. 1 is also the application deadline for the Council's Evelyn and Everett Ortner Park Slope Preservation Awards, given out every year to recognize projects "compatible with the historic architecture of Park Slope and interventions by individuals or groups to protect the neighborhood’s historic character."
