Park Slope's Former Key Food Will Get Bank, CVS
The developers behind an upcoming Fifth Avenue building announced a Wells Fargo branch will join Lidl, CVS and 180 apartments.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Park Slope's dear, departed Key Food is long gone, but two soon-to-open businesses at its former location could make up for the loss.
A Wells Fargo branch and a CVS pharmacy will join Lidl grocery in the upcoming building at 120 Fifth Ave., developers announced last week.
"Creating access to essential retail goods and services, like banking, is a crucial component of our approach to development," said Billy Macklowe, CEO of William Macklowe Company, which is developing the project, in a statement. "We are excited to be partnering with Wells Fargo to deliver a new community-oriented bank for the convenience of our neighbors and future residents."

The closure and demolition of Key Food near Baltic Street and Sterling Place was much-lamented by many in the neighborhood, as it took away a major grocery store within walking distance for them.
But developers promised to replace the grocery store as they embarked on construction of a development that will feature 180 rental units, of which 45 are planned to be affordable.

Sure enough, they scored a deal in 2022 to bring discount grocer Lidl into the building.
Developers since have provided regular construction updates by a dedicated website, which quietly included the announcement that a CVS pharmacy will join Lidl.
The Wells Fargo branch will open in late 2024, developers said.
The affordable housing units and new supermarket will be delivered by 2024, according to the construction website.
