Jackie's Fifth Amendment Closes; Patrick Stewart Says Goodbye

The long life and extended fall of Jackie's 5th Amendment is over.

The dive bar closed its doors for good earlier this month. The bar was sold off to Slope Drugs & Surgical Supply next door earlier this August, but remained opened for a few final drinks through the fall. 

Park Slope's 'cult' classic was a favorite bar for many locals with a long history at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street. One of those fans is apparently local celeb Patrick Stewart. 

Park Slope Pre-School Director Ordered to Resign, Pay $240K

During her time as Executive Director of the nonprofit Therapy and Learning Center in South Slope, Silvia Kuper used over $200,000 in school funds for personal use, an investigation by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman found.

Schneiderman's office announced that they have obtained a $240,000 settlement after the investigation into self-dealing by Kuper. 

It was found that Kuper used $220,000 in school funds to pay for online personal counseling services and leases on a series of luxury Audi A-8 sedans registered in her name. Kuper must pay full restitution of the $220,000 and $20,000 for the costs of the investigation. 

Man Charged in Sexual Assault

Police in the 78th precinct searched for a man who reportedly grabbed an 11-year-old girl's buttocks Monday in Park Slope and a man who later assaulted a police officer investigating the incident.

Later in the week, Jessey Dailey of Park Slope was charged in both incidents.

Prospect Park's Lakeside Center Receives $10 Million Gift

The ambitious and long-awaited Lakeside Center recently received another gift in anticipation of its opening in $10 million from the LeFrak family.

The Prospect Park Alliance and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Monday announced the donation from the LeFrak family in support of Lakeside.
