Double Withdrawal Â
A crafty crook withdrew over $500 from a woman’s bank account moments after she used an ATM on Seventh Avenue on April 21. Â
The 57-year-old victim told police that she went to the Bank of America on Seventh Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets at 1:08 p.m. when a man told her not to use a certain ATM for “it’s not dispensing cash.” She used the next ATM, took out money and left. After checking her bank account later, she found that someone had removed $560 one minute after she made her withdrawal. The crook who told her to use a certain ATM is described as a 35-year-old black man standing about 6-foot-3 and wearing a white baseball cap, blue jeans and a green waist length jacket. Police are looking at the ATM’s surveillance video.Â
Unattended iPhone Snatched Â
A 17-year-old kid stole a teacher’s iPhone and cash from her jacket pocket in a youth center on 14th Street April 22. Â
The 23-year-old victim told police that she was in the Project Reach Youth management offices, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, at 10:50 a.m. when she put her iPhone inside her jacket and left it unattended in the office until 12 p.m. When she returned to get her jacket, she found that someone had stolen her iPhone, debit card, I.D. and $20 in cash from the pocket. Another employee told police that a 17-year-old kid admitted to stealing the woman’s belongings, which totaled $449. Â
