Police Blotter: Thief Steals $5K in Jewelry and Electronics from Car on Bergen Street

Smash and Grab on Bergen Street
A thief smashed a car window parked on Bergen Street and stole over $5,000 in jewelry and electronics May 4.
The two victims, who are Park Slope residents, told police that they parked their Honda Accord between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues at around 8:45 p.m. and went into a bar close by. However, they left a cellphone, iPad, iPod and a bag of assorted jewelry in the backseat and center console. When they returned to the car at 11:45 p.m., they found the car’s back window smashed and their property stolen. The crook got away with $5,300 worth of goods, including an iPod, iPad 3, cellphone, rolling luggage bag and a bag of $4,000 in assorted costume jewelry.
The Stoop-Side iPhone Snatch
A quick-handed crook snatched a bag off a woman’s stoop and got away with an iPhone, credit cards and $100 cash on May 4.
The 43-year-old victim told police that she put her bag on her stoop, between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West, at 2 p.m. and went to chase her daughter
down the block. When she returned 15 minutes later, her bag was gone. The crook, who the victim cannot describe, got away with the victim’s iPhone 5, $100 cash, 50 Euros, four credit cards, a Green Card, driver’s license, wallet and her $250 Coach bag.
