Poop Slope: Shockingly, Park Slope Ranks Low On Dog Waste Complaints
So many New Yorkers aren't picking up after dogs that a new ad campaign resorted to this slogan: "Don't Leave _ _it On The Sidewalk."
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Every Park Sloper knows that dogs — and their, ahem, droppings — are everywhere on the neighborhood's sidewalks.
But only a few have taken their poop peeves to 311, even as dog waste complaints from other New York City neighborhoods have clogged the non-emergency number this year, data shows.
Just six complaints about dog waste on the sidewalk have come from Park Slope's 11215 and 11217 ZIP Codes out of 880 citywide since the New Year, according to data.

The brown wave prompted city sanitation officials this week to mount an ad campaign aimed at rep-poo-bates who don't pick up after their pups.
"Don't Leave _ _it On The Sidewalk," is the campaign's scatological slogan.

Even though the City is getting cleaner - there's still too much litter and dog waste on our sidewalks.
Together with @WeLoveNYC, we launched a campaign to shame the litterers and dog-poopetrators.

Data hints that 2023 could be a banner year for doggy BMs .
There were nearly 800 complaints about dog waste on sidewalks during the first three months this year, compared to roughly 600 in the same span last year, 311 data shows.
Last year was already a messy time too, as New Yorkers pushed out exactly 2,100 complaints about dog waste on sidewalks, 311 data shows.
Of those, 11 were from ZIP Codes covering Park Slope, according to the data.
The sidewalk s--- situation really hit the fan harder in other neighborhoods, at least based off 311 complaints.
Prospect Lefferts Gardens and other neighborhoods in the 11226 ZIP Code led the city for dog waste complaints since January 2022, with 60 total complaints, the data shows.
Park Slope's 11215 ZIP Code, meanwhile, ranked 101st out of 175 codes with reported poop problems during the same span, according to the data.
And the 11217 ZIP Code was even further down at 140th, the complaint data shows.
