Prospect Park Gets New Eatery From Popular Park Slope Bakery
Winner will soon open a cafe at Prospect Park's Picnic House, serving its Michelin-awarded pastries and sandwiches through December.

BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklynites soon won't have to leave Prospect Park in order to get Michelin-awarded, picnic-ready treats.
Winner, a beloved bakery on Seventh Avenue, is set to open a cafe in the lower level of the Picnic House, overlooking the park's Long Meadow, at a soon-to-be-announced date, the Prospect Park Alliance said Wednesday.
The Prospect Park outpost, which will be open through December, is Winner's third location in Brooklyn: its flagship opened in Park Slope a week before the onset of the pandemic (but still managed to win a Michelin Bib Gourmand award within a year), followed by a recently-opened outpost in Crown Heights.

Daniel Eddy, the chef behind Winner, also opened Runner Up, a restaurant-slash-wine-bar, next to the popular Park Slope bakery in October, featuring some of the bakery's pastries and bites plus an expanded main menu.
"One of the pillars of Winner is to create something for everyone," said Eddy. "Be it pre-run or post-run, with family or friends, or a solo walk just to commune with nature, Winner at the Picnic House will have something for everyone."

In Prospect Park, the Winner cafe will offer its usual slate of baked goods, sandwiches, and rotisserie chicken (which are already known to draw out-the-door lines in Park Slope), plus beverages and picnic meals, according to the Prospect Park Alliance.
"The park is an essential resource for our community, and we know that Prospect Park patrons want more food options to enhance their park experience," said James Snow, Prospect Park Alliance Interim President. "We’re excited to welcome this amenity and we are confident that our community will welcome having Winner in the park to add to our other food offerings."
As part of its effort to make Prospect Park more enjoyable (and picnic-able), the park alliance has helped bring in snack offerings, including King David Tacos at Grand Army Plaza, Bluestone Cafe to Lakeside, and a (seasonal) Smorgasburg outpost to Breeze Hill.
Winner at Prospect Park will start with breakfast service, and expand to more hours leading up to Memorial Day, at which point the cafe will start operating from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, the Prospect Park Alliance said.
